Dear Friend and Supporter,

It is with heartfelt thanks that I write to you. You may know I lost my Primary. It was a hard fought race, an awesome political battle and one we can all be proud of. One week before the election I was 28 points up from my opponent. In looking back on how the votes came down, I really believe it was an anti-incumbent vote. I ran a campaign with no regrets and am very proud of the team I worked with – that team is you!

The campaign could never have been run without your participation. You helped in so many ways: volunteering your time and energy to place yard signs, making phone calls, working the computers, walking door to door and marching in parades with us as well as giving sacrificial financial contributions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

As I reflect on these ten years of working with you while serving the Second District, Anne and I along with our family will cherish the friendships we have made. Rain or shine you were there to serve alongside us! Some of you wrote letters to the editor and advocated on my behalf. How about the help you gave in setting up our campaign offices: a former donut shop on Huntoon, a former dentist office on Kansas Ave. and finally in the old Insurance Building on 7th St.! And, for those who brought meals, cupcakes, cookies and especially the Dr. Pepper, thank you! We all have made wonderful memories and have so much to be grateful for.

When we give thanks for the opportunity and honor I had to serve, I will think of it in terms of President Theodore Roosevelt’s words captured in his famous speech, “Man in the Arena”. “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles,….. but (he) who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasm, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause;….so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” You helped put an authentic Conservative in office for ten years who is pro-life, believes in smaller government, adheres to personal responsibility and fought hard to make our taxes lower. We fought the good fight. You were there praying for me, entrusting me with the responsibility of representing you.

We have nearly closed this chapter of our lives together, but there remains one more page to be written. We have some bills for the Primary that need to be paid. Will you help me one last time to retire the Primary debt? Your most generous help will bring closure to the Jim Ryun for Congress Campaign. Could you write a check to Ryun for Congress for $20, $50, $100 or even a $1,000? Please note that I can only accept checks that have “primary debt retirement” written in the memo of the check. Please feel free to contribute online, www.jimryun.com I know you can understand my desire to close the books by September 15th. I am enclosing a return envelope for your convenience.

It has been a wonderful journey. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers and I pray in our lives. May God richly bless and keep you and your family in His peace.
